Urban
Living Gets Better and Better
The days of long commutes and urban sprawl are coming to an end. Urban dweller, more than
ever before, are in search of "live-work-play"
communities where they can walk or take a short ride
to work, dinner, and a variety of entertainment
venues. Everybody - from the young and hip to
empty nesters looking to downsize to retirees
seeking a convenient lifestyle - is moving in large
numbers to urban condominium living.
The Dallas / Fort Worth area is no stranger to this
new urban-living trend. Demographic forecasts
predict that the number of people living in downtown
Dallas will more than double in the next short five
years. Already the change is evident.
Right now there are over 15 cranes in the sky over
the downtown area, and more are expected as the
Trinity River Corridor and The Arts District are
completed.
Fort Worth is no different. Sundance Square, a
20-block downtown
area once marked by urban decay,
has been revitalized as a vibrant
pedestrian-friendly hub with about 500,000 square
feet of restaurants and retail. This, as well
as the development around Texas Christian
University, is a huge draw for people searching for
the convenience of an urban lifestyle. |
